Know the school bus laws in Pennsylvania
August 22, 2019 | Category: News
Believe it or not we are coming up on the start of the 2019-2020 school year for our local school districts in Lehigh Valley, Pa. Many of these districts return on Monday, August 26th, and the rest will begin on Tuesday, September 3rd. Obviously, that means that there will be an increase in both foot and auto traffic in our local communities. Please adjust accordingly by giving yourself additional time to arrive at your destination, especially if you will be on the road during the early morning and late afternoon/early evening time frames when most students are getting dropped off or picked up.
You also want to be extra alert when driving through residential neighborhoods and keep an eye out for children going to and from bus stops. Our friends at the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation share a couple of school bus stopping laws that you should know. Read about them here.
Familiarize yourself, and any young drivers in your household, with the laws and avoid being convicted! Did you know the penalties could be a $250 fine, five points on your driving record, and a 60-day driver’s license suspension? Be smart out there and help save lives daily, just like us!
